The Awards Categories:

Business Angel Network of the Year

This Award is open to nominations from any UK-based angel network that has significantly grown its network and increased awareness of angel investing in its region. The network will have also completed a considerable number of deals and will have looked at innovative methods to drive business angel investing in its locality. The nominated network should also have demonstrated non-financial means to supporting both entrepreneurs and investors.

Early Stage Fund Team of the Year

This award is open to any seed fund, PoC fund, venture fund or angel co-investment fund. The nominated team will have completed a significant number of deals in new businesses in the past year as well as growing its existing portfolio, and potentially achieving successful exits. The team will have also shown an active role to further develop fund potential or to raise new funds.

Expert Contribution to the Early Stage Investment Market

This award is open to any professional organisation (e.g. lawyers, accountants, corporate finance, advisory services, universities) that has made a distinctive contribution to the development of the early stage investment market. This may have been through the development of best practice, a new service, research or an activity that assists entrepreneurs or investors in the early stage market.

Angel — VC Deal of the Year

This award is open to individual VCs, business angel networks, angel groups/syndicates or individual investors who have successfully structured a deal including both VC and angel investment. This can include relevant co-investment funds and be at any stage in the funding cycle and in any sector.

Early Stage Investment of the Year

Nominations for this award are open to individual investors, funds or management teams where an investment has supported the successful growth of that company or enabled a significant innovation to flourish during 2009-10. This award can relate to an investment in any sector except clean tech (see below).

Clean Tech Investment of the Year 

Open to angel networks/ groups, VCs or funds or individual investors that made an investment in an early stage business within the clean tech sector to address global climate change. Nominations for this award must have demonstrated that they significantly supported the growth potential and competitiveness of the company.
